Music And Brain Development
Often referred to as “grey matter”, the cerebral cortex is a structure within our brain that plays a key role in memory attention, perceptual awareness, thought, language and consciousness, We use it for thinking, talking, seeing, hearing and creating. And music study or training has significant impact on the brain, especially on the cerebral cortex of kids and young people. How do you help your child enhance this? By singing with him. Here’s how it works: A song has four basic components: sound, rhythm, melody and lyrics.

SOUND
Music alters the performance of the nervous system. A remarkable piece will energise, move or calm us.

RHYTHM
It corresponds to our own internal body rhythm, our pulse and breath. This provides a strong understanding of numeric figures and the ability to learn how to count.

MELODY
This corresponds to our emotions. It gives sound and rhythm its feeling and quality. It is constructive in helping children learn how to express themselves.

LYRICS
The ability to sing and memorise musical scores and song lyrics helps develop a child’s memory attention and linguistic capability.
